Dixie MacUisdin

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Dixie is a painter who loves colour, landscape, and abstraction. While she is a versatile artist who has explored many painting mediums, she has recently decided to devote herself primarily to watercolours. Her interest in painting began at an early age and she was inspired in her youth by the beautiful Ottawa Valley and the work of the Group of Seven. On the advice of her high school art teacher, Dixie pursued her interest in art at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick. She graduated with a BFA in painting and photography, and she has employed her love of art in many diverse occupations including scenic art and commercial embroidery.

Dixie finds great inspiration in nature and enjoys painting camping trips to scenic locations in British Columbia. She likes to experiment with abstract techniques both on location and in the studio. From 2012-2022, Dixie was a busy painting instructor in the Victoria area, teaching foundational skills as well as encouraging creative techniques for self-expression. In 2022, she decide to take a step back from teaching and is now employed with Sharkz Coins and devotes her creative time to her own work. She has resided in Esquimalt BC since stepping off the bus in 1987 after a cross-country trek from Halifax.
