Rejection & Social Media

No matter how many times I am rejected it always feels like a punch to the gut no matter how kind the rejection email is. Why does it make me feel so bad? Usually this bad feeling will last for a couple of days, and then I will pick myself up and carry on.

On social media, I almost never share my failures and feelings of being low for fear that it will bring others down too. But as I look at it now, only posting the good stuff creates the false projection that everything is great all the time. I wanted to tell you today that that is not the case. So, going forward, I am going to try to be more balanced in what I share - the good and the bad.

Whatever your life’s journey, there are ups and downs. That is life. That is living a creative life as well.

This blog is my response to a series published by a local art supply business in their marketing emails. This series features local artists and their creative life after their graduation from art school. I thought it was an interesting idea so I thought I would share my creative journey here.

Dixie is an artist and painting instructor living in Esquimalt, BC.
